The Calliope River Free Camps are located on both sides of the Calliope River and are a very popular overnight place to stay for travelers.
The Rockhampton Regional Council have been fantastic and fought to keep this Free Camping space for travelers for the benefit of all businesses in Rockhampton and we acknowledge this and thank the Council for their wisdom and courage.
It is recommended as 4wd only as the track includes tidal pools of water to navigate and some sections of soft sand however 2wd vehicles have entered the area.
